Southern Sydney Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Mapping Project
In a unique collaboration, RDA Sydney is working with the UTS Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation, ANSTO and 5 Southern Sydney Councils in a project to map the local entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Over 50 students from Navigating Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Initiating Change, a subject under the UTS Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation, will explore the small business ecosystems across 5 council areas. Working in teams of 5 and two teams per council area, the students will liaise with Bayside, Canterbury-Bankstown, Georges River, Sutherland and Wollongong Councils to identify businesses in their areas and contact businesses to gain an understanding of their market and supply chains.
The end result will be a visual display of the ecosystems for each area, to be presented at an online event in July 2020.
This project arose from the Georges River Entrepreneurship and Innovation Roundtable held in February 2020 at which the 5 councils agreed to explore future joint activities. We hope that the student project will lead to more detailed research project that will identify key strengths and opportunities in the Southern Sydney ecosystem. This is particularly important during the turmoil currently being experienced by businesses and as they aim to navigate their way out of any crisis and look for opportunities to innovate and grow.
